Our flavored Ashbys® teas are packaged in 2lb bulk bags and start with the finest pure gunpowder green tea from China (decaf is sencha green). The extracts used to flavor the tea are a combination of both natural and artificial flavorings. Combining these two types of flavorings brings the best of both to Ashbys® flavored teas; resulting in a wonderfully enhanced natural aroma and flavor that will remain with the tea for a long time. Best of all, our flavoring extracts contain no sweeteners, sugars or calories and are gluten free.
This gunpowder tea has a full body with clean earthy flavor. Gunpowder tea gets its name from the appearance of the leaves, which are rolled tightly into small, round pellets ranging from Pinhead to Pea Leaf. The smaller the roll, the more expensive the tea. The tight roll helps Gunpowder remain fresher, longer than other teas.
